1. Happy Week One Anteaters,

The Office of the External Vice President would like to invite you to join the UCSA Board of Directors at their monthly board meeting which has recently been decided to be hosted at UC Irvine.

ASUCI is currently a member of the University of California Student Association. The University of California Student Association (UCSA) is a coalition of UC Student governments that aims to advocate for UC students at a statewide level to the UC Regents and California legislature. UCI undergraduate students pay a total of $16,416.40 ( after receiving a 50% fee waiver for the predicted $31,923 for 2016-2017) in membership fees to the UC Student Association, which does not include the cost of conferences, sending students to board meetings, legislative committee meetings, and other advocacy commitments. Each UC Irvine student pays $1.50 in their ASUCI fees to allocate to the University of California Student Association

ASUCI’s External Vice President (EVP) is currently the voting representative from ASUCI to the UCSA Board of Directors. The EVP office has a responsibility towards the students of UC Irvine in examining the overall effectiveness of the application of student fees towards membership in UCSA. Since my appointment to UCSA’s Board of Directors in June, my office and I have come to realize that UC Irvine undergraduates are being underserved by UCSA.

We invite you to join us on Saturday and Sunday April 8th and 9th starting at 10am for the UCSA Board of Directors meeting in Doheny Beach A.
