In this 10th anniversary of Soulstice, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our event for the first time ever is going virtual! While this changes the way our show was run in the past, we have worked tirelessly to bring you the same magic, from the stage to your screens. Though we ask you not to gather to enjoy the spectacular talent that we have set for you, we hope that you find other remote ways to share your enjoyment and support for the brave and skilled fellow anteaters that are here performing for you. Though the virtual version of this event is the first of its kind, we hope for 10 more years of Soulstices to come!

▬  H I S T O R Y  ▬

In 2011, a committee was formed to start a huge talent exhibition, which we now know as Soulstice. The founders’ mission was to discover and showcase all the original talent that was radiating throughout the student body that people were just unaware of.
Throughout their years at UCI, it was apparent to the founders that UC Irvine had an incredible amount of talented students who had composed original music, loved to perform, and had a following on YouTube, but they had no platform to share their talent to a live audience.
The founders saw dozens and dozens of auditions, and they even had to pass on some amazing voices by staying true to their mission of promoting original talent. They came up with the categories of Solo/Duet, Bands, A Capella and Dance as the categories that people could submit auditions into.
The summer before Fall 2011, the committee worked endlessly and met every week in prepping the concept, the promotions, and the brand. After many meetings, going back and forth pitching ideas, the founders felt that the name, Soulstice, fit so perfectly with how people showcase their souls through music. That name immediately led to the naming of the “Soulstice League,” which was the emcee group for the event and that could provide comedic sketch skits in between the transition acts.
In 2012, Soulstice was held in Crawford hall its first year and completely sold out the venue. The committee had an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm and support for the event from their peers, alumni, community members, and more. Since then, Soulstice has come so far and grown into something that the founders could not have even imagined from the beginning. The quality of the production, talent and organization has grown immensely over the years into the show we know today.

▬  M I S S I O N  ▬

The Student Talent Commission will:
➥  utilize various platforms to reach out to diverse talent
➥  engage in courageous conversations with prospective talent about the need to address unconscious bias and systemic bias as they create their content
➥  maintain ongoing communication with prospective talent in order to share timelines, deadlines, and sources of support
➥  utilize, and approve, the use of public funds to support programming delivered at Soulstice 2021 that honors and respects the unique voices and talents at UCI
