Personal Facts/Passions:
Hi everyone! I’m Nithila Murugesan and I’m excited to serve as one of your At-Large Senators! My favorite thing about UCI is all of the greenery and the open environment on campus. In my free time, I like to go golfing, window shopping, or do anything with my friends! I believe in doing everything at least once, so I’m down for anything! When I’m alone, I find peace while listening to my playlist and painting. I love to travel internationally (I’ve been to Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Vatican City, China, and India) and hope to go to Switzerland next!
Why did you join ASUCI?:
I joined ASUCI because I believe that as a senator, I can make a meaningful difference for students and be a valuable asset to the Senate. Many of our students feel that their voices and opinions go unheard in the decisions that affect their day-to-day life, so it is important to me that I serve as an advocate who ensures that the concerns of our undergraduates are actively addressed. To me, representation means ensuring that every student’s voice is not just heard but acted upon. It’s about having leaders who genuinely engage with the undergraduate community, understand their concerns, and work to create meaningful change. ASUCI provides a platform for students to voice their needs and see real progress. As your At-Large Senator, I will strengthen this connection by improving communication, engagement, and transparency between ASUCI and the engineering student body.
Goals:
As one of your At-Large Senators, I represent the entire undergraduate class and serve as an advocate that ensures that the concerns of our undergraduates are actively addressed. I hope to enhance community engagement among students, push for expanded services of the Anteater Express, and improve academic support and career opportunities for first-generation students.
