Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee (SHIAC) Description:

The primary responsibility of the SHIAC is to advise the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Chancellor regarding UC SHIP with the goal of securing the highest quality health care at a fair price for all eligible UC Irvine students. The SHIAC recommends the positions that UC Irvine should represent to the UC SHIP Executive Oversight Board, especially with regard to plan benefits, coverage, and fees. The committee also works with Student Health leadership to ensure that fees remain reasonable thereby assuring that students have maximum access to care.

Board membership will consist of four (4) Voting Undergraduate Members and one (1) Non-voting Undergraduate member appointed by ASUCI. Membership will be appointed by ASUCI, and the term shall be one full academic year.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

- Attend meetings and be active on the Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee

- Advise the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and the Chancellor regarding UC SHIP with the goal of securing the highest quality health care at a fair price for all eligible UC Irvine students

- Develop policy recommendations for review by Student Health Center and Student Affairs leadership as well as the Executive Oversight Board as appropriate.
