Commission Description:

The Sustainability Project Commission targets intersectional advocacy, environmental justice, waste management and reduction, recycling, energy efficiency, and self-sufficiency in the UCI student and staff community. Through close collaboration with organizations such as the Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) and the CA Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG), we support green initiatives on campus to work towards UCI’s sustainability goals, and on a state-wide scale – the University of California’s Carbon Neutrality Initiative as presented from the UCOP. As Sustainability Coordinator, your tasks may include:

- Support UCI Sustainability Zero Waste policy, and raising more awareness.

- Receive feedback from the student body on ways we can improve sustainability around campus.

- Work with the Garden Coordinator on research projects involving sustainability and climate change.

-Collaborate with departments like the Sustainability Resource Center (SRC) and Dining to identify areas of concern and address them by providing the student perspective.

- Program interactive and informative events that bring in different student groups and populations to increase awareness of intersections within sustainability on campus.
