PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES SENATOR LIAO

EMMA LIAO
Pronouns: She/Her
Position(s): Pharmaceutical Sciences Senator
Year: 4th year
Major(s): Pharmaceutical Sciences, Specialization in Medicinal Pharmacology
Contact: pharmsci.senator@asuci.uci.edu
Office Hours: 4-5pm Thursdays (In-Person)
Personal Facts/Passions:
I used to play field hockey! I enjoy being active and doing physical activities with my friends. When I’m alone, I like cooking and watching movies/shows. On campus, you’ll only find me in Steinhaus Hall running experiments in my research lab!
Why did you join ASUCI?:
I joined ASUCI because I wanted to address some recurring issues I’ve observed in SPPS during my three years at UCI. I hope to serve as a representative voice for the Pharmaceutical Sciences students and advocate for improvements in areas where they commonly face challenges. I also see ASUCI as a great place to meet new people. It brings together undergraduate students from various majors, and it’s exciting being able to learn about them and their experiences at UCI!
Goals:
My goal for 2025-2026 is to make meaningful differences for the Pharmaceutical Sciences students, even if the impact is small. Being the only representative for hundreds of students is its own challenge, but I hope to engage more deeply with the PharmSci community so I can better advocate for what students truly need. In Senate, I want to focus my work on hosting an event that highlight internship and lab opportunities, both within and outside UCI, for students interested in industry or pursuing a PhD after graduation. I’m always open to hearing concerns, ideas, or feedback from undergrads, so please feel free to reach out to me anytime!
