SOCIAL SCIENCES SENATOR PETE

Personal Facts/Passions:

I was born and raised in San Francisco and still think Norcal is better than Socal. In my free time, I love reading historical and political nonfiction, doing the New York Times games (Spelling Bee!), and hiking with my dog, Buddy, back home in SF. I also love to run and have finished 2 half marathons this year. On campus, you can find me either working at SOAR or rushing to my classes.

Why did you join ASUCI?:

I joined ASUCI because I saw how often underrepresented students were left out of conversations in student government, and I wanted to change that. Advocacy and community are not just interests for me but responsibilities I carry with intention. Every student deserves to feel seen and heard, and ASUCI provides a platform to push for equity, uplift marginalized voices, and ensure that the UCI experience reflects the needs of all students, not just a few.

Goals:

My goals for the academic year are to strengthen the connection between ASUCI and the students it serves by ensuring that representation and resources are not just available, but visible and accessible. I plan on doing this by introducing legislation that guarantees student representation in decision-making spaces, especially for Social Science students!. I hope to create pathways that allow students to see themselves reflected in leadership and to feel that their voices have weight in the changes happening around them. My vision is for ASUCI to be a home where students feel represented, empowered, and equipped to thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.
