Organizing Director & Aide: 

The mission of the Organizing Commissioner is to inform and mobilize the student body at UC Irvine in campaigns that pressure the UC into providing the best education possible. This means a university that not only provides a safe community for students to grow and develop, but spaces where they can discover and thrive. Therefore, the focus of the commission will be on providing support to our cultural organizations and resource centers on campus in order to better cater to student’s actual needs. Furthermore, the office will focus on larger issues related to social justice through various campaigns. The Commissioner must recognize that each of the issues focused on throughout the year are all inextricably intertwined, of equal importance, and rooted in a common oppressor. The Organizing Commissioner’s main job is to report back on UCSA Action Items to the Organizing team and interpret them for how they see fit at UC Irvine . Strategize with coordinates on campaigns, actions, and programs. Task interns with participating in events, publicizing events, and grassroots outreach.

Labor Coordinator: 

The Labor Organizing coordinator will focus on uplifting labor workers through building coalitions with organizations and communities not limited to: AFSCME, UAW, National Nurses Union, Student Labor Action Project, and Student workers on campus. The Labor Organizing focus will work on coalition building and organizing initiatives coordinated with these aforementioned organizations. In our commitment to social justice, we must preserve the right of all folx to live a life of dignity, and in the face of injustice and opposition from administration, we must mobilize and fight for the disenfranchised workers who are deprived of their right to the pursuit of happiness.

UC I Decide Coordinator:

As UC I Decide Commissioner, I coordinate the voter engagement efforts with my team.

We believe it is important for the UC Irvine undergraduate population to stay civically engaged and exercise their right to vote. As a nonpartisan commission, our primary focus is promoting voter education and engagement. We actively register students to vote by tabling on campus, reaching out to students in classes (class announcements), partnering with on-campus organizations, and hosting various events. Our events will include community partners, candidates, spokespersons, and more. Our commission’s goal is to empower students to vote and increase access to voter participation.
