Hey guys! My name is Xinyu Zhang (she/her/hers), and I am thrilled to serve as the International Student Advocacy Commissioner for the 2024-2025 academic year. I am currently a second year student in Data Science Major and originally from HeBei China. I’ve been in Boston for four years and this is my second year in Irvine. A fun fact about me: I’ve had the joy of caring for a diverse range of pets. For now, I have two cats, two hamsters, one duck, one rabbit, one pair of parrots, and a small chick!
During my journey as an international student, I have faced various rewards and challenges, including adapting to a new culture, overcoming language barriers, and dealing with academic pressures. These experiences have brought valuable friendships, diverse perspectives, and significant personal growth. My goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all international students on our campus. I aim to ensure that every international student feels the warmth and support of our community and is inspired to succeed both academically and personally. Whether addressing practical issues, providing resources, or promoting cultural exchange, I am dedicated to offering comprehensive support.
As this year’s International Student Advocacy Commissioner, I am excited to use my passion and experience to support our international student community and ensure their voices are heard. I believe that through our collective efforts, we can create a more inclusive and vibrant campus environment where every international student can find a sense of belonging and enjoy a fulfilling university experience.
